Oil of Wintergreen or Methyl Salicylate is derived from the wintergreen herb. It has a number of applications in personal care and cosmetics due to its fragrant and refreshing aroma.

Uses

Wintergreen Essential Oil is reputed to have many therapeutic properties. The following highlights its many benefits and the kinds of activity it is believed to show:

Applications include skin anti-acne, hair care anti-dandruff, toothpaste and fabric care.

Benefits

This product is used to treat minor aches and pains of the muscles/joints (e.g., arthritis, backache, sprains). Menthol and methyl salicylate are known as counterirritants.
