Intro

Reed Pacific’s new Potenza Argan Oil microcapsules.

In the south western region of Morocco the Argania spinosa trees are found. 8-10 meters tall with thorny branches and a gnarled trunk, the Argania spinosa is prized for it oil which comes from the seeds inside the small oval fruits. Argan fruit takes around 1 year to grow, after which they ripen and are typically eaten by the local wildlife. Though the flesh of the fruit is not edible for humans the seeds are ground down and pressed to extract the argan oil.

Nicknamed liquid gold, argan oil production has become a major industry for Morocco since the discovery of its potential health and beauty benefits. Harvested by all women co-operatives, argan oil has traditionally been consumed in a similar fashion to olive oil in the Moroccan region. However its higher concentration of linoleic acid and antioxidants have made it a desirable oil to use in cosmetics resulting in its status as the most expensive edible oil in the world.

While argan oil can be used to provide protection and moisturise of both hair and skin, by using Reed Pacific’s proven Potenza technology we can further promote argan oil’s unique properties. By use of Potenza Argan Oil, the nourishing argan oil can be easily incorporated into water based recipes, even at high concentrations, without causing instability in the formulation. Encapsulation will also protect the fatty acids from oxidation by limiting exposure to light and air, this significantly increases the effectiveness and shelf life of the argan oil.

Specific qualities such as delayed release, slow release or targeted delivery can be achieved with Reed Pacific’s Potenza technologies to provide your formulators with unique personal care results.
